I just watched Keith's video on mill training again. I think I see what I would need to do. If I am not using cutter compensation do I still have to have a straight line before an arc?

Yes maybe the G-code is basic stuff but the whole picture is not basic. Lots of different parts that all have to come together to get to the "basic stuff".
