Re: Load CNC12 without VCP?

It has been a while since the last time I got into the VCP and messed with editing it, couple of years at least. I don't think you could add any rows at that time, I could be mistaken. Just curious, why not give us the option of having up to 16 column and only 6 or 7 rows. Maybe make it a user ...

Re: Acorn and PWM spindle?

Just to clarify, with PWM, you lose one of the general outputs, OUT2. You do not loose an axis. You still have 4 controllable axis even while using PWM.

That's correct.
No effect on the axis outputs, but output relay 2 can't be used when using the PWM on the Acorn board.
This doesn't apply to ...

Re: Acorn and PWM spindle?

Awsome. Thank you for the quick response. Now I just need to figure out what exactly needs to be connected to make the spindle on my mill function with the acorn I have.

Mike.

Acorn and PWM spindle?

I've been doing some digging but I have not seen anything that directly answers a couple of quiestions. I have been told that hickory is the only control centroid with PWM spindle control. Then I noticed that acorn and acorn6 both show on the web site under the list of reatures that they support PWM ...

Re: Load CNC12 without VCP?

Wizard... That explains why I cant find it. Apparently wizard wont load on the demo version of CNC12, or that it wont load without being connected to a Centroid product. Good to know, if/when I decide to do this conversion I will keep this in mind.

Thank you.

Load CNC12 without VCP?

Quick and simple. Is there a way to load CNC12 without loading the VCP? Just throwing some ideas around in my head for a "quite possibly in the near future" conversion. It is a small machine so there is not a lot of room on the panel. I am thinking using a 4:3 ratio monitor and reusing most of the ...

Spindle control on board using 0-12vdc adjustable pot

So basically I have a new mill that my acorn has been moved over to and I have everything working (including spindle forward/reverse) minus spindle speed control thru acorn. I would like to use the motor control board for the time being if at all possible but I am not 100% sure the controller will ...

Re: First build. Old equipment + new technology= FUN???

VFD's are 'controlled' with the Acorn analog output speed command and Acorn relay outputs for Forward, Reverse direction command.

Gotcha, but my question is, with a VFD do I connect directly from the ACORN spindle speed control output directly to the VD input or do I need an additional ...

Re: First build. Old equipment + new technology= FUN???

So with a limited schedule of time that I can play with my newly converted toy I have definitely have learned a few things. First my mill is defiantly not up to the challenge of making a good CNC machine without some major upgrades... But I already knew that. Second I now know how to set up and get ...

Re: First build. Old equipment + new technology= FUN???

That's what seamed to make to most since to me anyway.

Good news..... I have it working... I had to go back thru all the settings once again, part of the problem I was having was in the configuration. For some reason I thought my stepper drivers were capable of 4000 steps per rev and they aren't ...
